To come from far afield is to arrive having taken the long journey. This journeyed distance is the studio’s lifeblood and namesake. Studio Far Afield believe in an architecture that goes beyond a prescribed way of thinking and building - one that is fluent in language, exploratory in method, and attentive in its outlook.
Founded by Eleni-Aline Rizou (MSc EPFL, CH) and Chelsea Sia (MPhil Cantab ARB RIBA, UK), Studio Far Afield are an experimental architecture studio focused on extolling the value of place.
Their collective experience across architectural practices in Switzerland (Lacroix Chessex architectes), Japan (Kengo Kuma and Associates), Singapore (Surbana Jurong Consultants), and the UK (Hassell Studio) contribute to a familiarity with varied expression and form, and an eagerness to explore all manner of spatial practice.
Studio Far Afield work across a wide range of typologies and scales, including urban design, residential, commercial, and interiors.
The studio makes architecture that is sensitive and unselfish. In all manner of intervention the articulation of relationships between building, community, and landscape is of utmost importance.
